Nikon 50mm f1.4 G AF Lens

Can’t get this lens out of my mind.

I can think of many other fun crazy lenses that might be more obvious to covet, but it was a long time since I owned a prime lens and I’m quite looking forward to being limited in options and focusing on framing rather than zooming. Zooming is a convenient drag.

People rave about the older one, but also say that it’s slightly hazy in the edges. It sounds like it’s a fantastic lens and I’m frankly not sure whether to throw a few more quid on the newer one or gamble for the magic with the older one. Any mythbuster out there tried both?
